My Father-in-law, Bo Crews, was involved in a very serious accident in a log truck on Wednesday, January 19, 2022. At this point, we aren’t sure what caused him to briefly pass out, it could have been high blood sugar, or a post symptom from Covid Pneumonia, which he was recovering from, we were told there was something called “Brain Fog” that is a symptom of Covid and post Covid. He is not diabetic, that we know of, but his blood sugar has been extremely high ever since he’s been in the hospital so that’s why we think it could have been that for the reason he passed out briefly and turned over and totaled the log truck. FHP stated he was thrown from the cab of the truck and as a result, he sustained some serious injuries. He received a very large and deep gash in his head and lost a large amount of blood, it appeared that he most likely struck one of the logs with his head. It took the trauma team over 2 hours to close the head wound and it was so deep that they had to use internal dissolving sutures to close up internally then they had to do the same with another internal flap with the dissolving sutures and then they stapled and used non-dissolving sutures on the top. He fractured his right clavicle and he has some transverse process spinal fractures. Bo already suffered from chronic pain in his back and the shoulder he fractured he has dislocated twice in the past so he has pain in that shoulder all the time too. They originally said they may need to operate on the shoulder but now they are going to hold off on surgery and try to let it heal with therapy and they said it would take at least 6 weeks before he would even be able to use that right arm. They may wind up sending him to a rehab facility if they can’t get his pain under control while at the hospital. As most people know, they are a one income family and in light of the new situation of Bo suddenly being out of work for who knows how long due to this accident, obviously Kristie will have to get a job and that won’t happen overnight nor will pay start coming in immediately once she is able to go to work and she and Bo are empty nesters so it’s just the 2 of them and she will have to wait to start a job until she is absolutely positive that Bo will be ok at home alone and can walk well enough to get around to the bathroom and kitchen and such. I’m sure there will be some sort of worker’s compensation, but the percentage that he will receive won’t come close to covering the cost of their monthly bills, groceries, gas and just basically everything they would have to have money for during this time of recovery before Bo is able to go back to work which we have no idea how long that will be, could be 2 months, could be longer, we really just don’t know. I doubt worker’s compensation can start as fast as a week so that means when Bo got paid on Friday, they have no idea when he will see any type of pay so basically, in a nutshell, after paying bills that were due from his last paycheck, sadly they have next to no money. Unfortunately, they have no money in a savings account either. Once Bo is actually able to fully grasp everything that is going on, he will be worrying himself to death and Kristie is already doing so. Unfortunately, they just didn’t have a plan for something like this happening, but it happened and now they are in a major financial bind. They are too proud to ask for a handout so I am doing it for them because they desperately need it. There is no amount too small, every penny counts and would help them make it through this horrible event taking place in their lives. I decided to set up this Go Fund Me account to help raise money for them to make it through at least a couple of months. I would also like to ask for PRAYERS!! Even if you aren’t able to help financially, prayers are greatly appreciated. But again, no amount is too small to help out this couple from our community who has been so well known for helping people during times of tragedy and trials and incidents just like this with a bad accident, that is why our small community/county, Nassau, is a great place to live, people care about people!! Kristie also has a CashApp account, a Venmo account and a Zelle account that money can be sent to that will go directly into their bank account with the click of a button and no waiting. If you would like to donate and help this couple in their time of need, and would rather use one of the other sources I just named, I will provide that information as well. I know they will be extremely grateful for any help given to them, if you know them, you know they are good people and that Bo is a hard working man and they have always tried to help others in need when they were able. Please, if you are able, donate any amount you would like and/or please keep them close in prayer. The following information will be the information for the other sources of donating/helping Bo and Kristie Crews. Also, I am going to include a few pictures, I don’t want to put anything gory on here, so I will keep the pictures, as none of the really bad pictures from immediately following the accident. Thank you so much and God Bless each and every one of you.
