Let's Help Ben Walk Again!

Ben has raced MX since he was a kid. He and Simone have been together for 25 years, and she can tell you he isn't happy unless he is riding. He loves it, lives for it, and enjoys that camaraderie of the motox family that comes with it.

Unfortunately, Ben's worst fears came true on Sunday, 30th October, after what looked like a minor accident, but a spectacular crash that resulted in the Doctor saying Ben would never walk again - that he would now be reliant on carers to assist him with his daily tasks.

Ben's injuries are EXTENSIVE! He fractured his T6 & T8 and shattered his T7, which has now been reconstructed in a 7-hour operation. He has also broken 6 back ribs and has pulmonary edema and a hematoma in his heart wall. Both of his lungs are partially collapsed, and he has a chest infection.

Ben has already overcome a lot of challenges but is still very weak and has a long recovery ahead of him. He has been told that he will be in hospital for 6 months, possibly longer.

He hasn't lost his sense of humour, although he has had some dark days...

He is ready to FIGHT and determined to walk again. His spinal cord is not severed, it is badly bruised, so there is HOPE that it will heal in time.

Ben is NOT a quitter! He is bloody stubborn, driven, and very ambitious, with an abundance of life to live.

Ben needs our support and help in this most important ride of his life. We want to try everything and anything we can to help Ben walk again!

As you can imagine, looking at 6 months in the hospital, Ben needs help with the day-to-day expenses including medical bills and treatments so that he can focus 100% on his road to recovery.
