There are many reasons why we want to help Azucena to breathe better. She has been a lovely woman who has given so much love to her children, husband, family, friends, and her brothers and sisters at church. There are so many voices that will say how their lives have been touched by Azucena in many ways. She’s an excellent counselor who always offers perspectives filled with wisdom and love.

She’s a great teacher who always does her best for those who need spiritual guidance through her solid Christian foundations. There are not enough lines to fill with testimonials of how her faith and convictions have been an inspiration to so many lives around her. Despite her condition, Azucena radiates enthusiasm with a positive attitude towards life. It is impressive that her pain and breathing difficulties don’t stop her from showing so much love and kindness with her beautiful smile.

In 2001, Azucena was diagnosed with scleroderma. This rare disease affected her lungs with pulmonary fibrosis that doctors said would leave her with 1 year to live. Azucena embraced a journey of faith, putting her life in the hands of God and living her life one day at the time.

Over the years, she has been diagnosed with connective tissue disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and most recently in 2020, pulmonary hypertension requiring her to stay on oxygen for most of the day. Her lungs have been working at 50% capacity for a few years now.
