Hi, my name is Angel and I’m fund raising for my son Aleksandar. Aleks is 6 years old, earlier this year he was diagnosed with a rare life-threatening condition named DMD, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a genetic disorder characterized by the progressive loss of muscle. It is a multi-systemic condition, affecting many parts of the body, which results in deterioration of the skeletal, heart, and lung muscles.

My wife and I noticed that there was something wrong with his movements when he was younger and further investigation resulted in Aleks diagnosis. Symptoms included tight Achillies tendons and issues with the alignment of his hips (Valgus) which we have been treating them with special therapies.

Everything was going very well until we had to start new excersize after which Aleks’ muscles could not recover and the condition was ‘unlocked’. After which he could not walk without someone’s help as his leg muscles cound not support his body and he would just collapce.

Thanks to my family helping us financialy we started stem cell treatment in Instanbul, Turkiye. This treatment is help him to stop the loss of the muscle. The treatment has to be done every 30-45 days so that it can help him. The cost of 1 treatment is 10000euros. There is an one time medicine which cost $3 000 000. Meanwhile he has to go to other special therapies and take food additives to help him build and maintain muscle which are also quiet costy. We must also renewate the flat that we life in for his needs.

I am now working in the UK away from my Family for 4 months at a time in order to support Aleks needs and to finance my son’s treatment. My family rely on my salary as my wife cannot work due to being Aleks full time carer and looking after with his everyday needs. I cannot sit back and watch the life in his eyes extinguish as he is such a good, well mannered boy with big dreams and ambitions such as running and jumping as the other kids of his age. This is putting a huge amount of strain on both my wife and I. She is so amazing dealing with everything on her own whilst I am away for long periods.
