Let's help a rockstar dad and husband after crash

I'm Shoshanna.

I've been a part of MANY community events in our area, and am so happy to have grown up in Arcata, and have chosen to raise my family here.

Steve DeMarino is a great guy I've actually know a bit since college, and we've lived in the same neighborhood for about 13 years. Our kids have been at the same schools, and I've forever admired Steve as a SUPER hard-working rockstar provider for his fantastic family.

He is the main caregiver for his lovely wife Michelle, who requires full-time care due to her massively disabling case of Multiple Sclerosis which has gotten progressively more consuming over the last decade.

I last saw Steve where he helps customers in the Electrical Department at Pierson's on December 14. It was so great to see him and catch up in person. On Friday, December 15, just 20 minutes after I had driven north on 101 in our busy rush hour traffic, Steve was one of the cars involved in a terrible crash on North bound 101 at Bayside Cutoff.

Basically a car failed to stop on Bayside Cutoff crossing 101. Steve's car couldn't avoid hitting this car, he spun, got t-boned by another vehicle, and it was a major injury crash needing several ambulances and vehicle extractions.

Steve suffered several broken ribs and a broken hip.

He is doing as well as he can, and is now in a rehab unit. He'll be there about a month, then still recovering for 3 more months.

This amazing family that I've called friends for over a decade is very much in need of any help you may be able to share at this crisis moment. They are looking at big medical bills, and with Steve being out of work AND unable to provide the care for Michelle that he gives they are really in a bad position.

I consider it an honor to be able to get this Go Fund Me underway to help my friends at this awful time, and I hope you'll help make the New Year less stressful for them and offer them financial support and know the love our generous community always steps up to share.
