Let’s Goat Save Tater Tot’s Leg
Hello! My name is Brittany and my family owns a sweet Nigerian Dwarf goat named Tater Tot. We went to the farm to pick up another goat and ended up taking her home as well because our children begged us to get her. She has the most spunk out of all of our goats. This is probably the reason that at 11 months old she has broken her femur. It is a bad break at the distal physis.
We were unable to find any local veterinarians to perform the surgery and so we have brought her to the University of Florida Large Animal Hospital. While most would euthanize her, we absolutely adore her as part of our family and goats form their own special bonds (that would leave her best friend Luna very lonely). So our options are to amputate the leg or to have rods and pins placed so she can keep her leg and mobility.
However, we cannot afford the fixation surgery. I know it’s a lot to ask, but as a last ditch effort to save her leg, I decided to try this gofundme. The cost differential between the surgeries is estimated at $3000 more but if we could get closer, we could make up the difference. If we can’t make up the difference, any donations made here will help with her amputation recovery.
Please help us save Tater’s leg!
With love and thanks,
The Martin Family
Ps South Florida friends she is not meat worthy so no bright ideas!
