Update: It's only been a couple of hours, but the goal has been absolutely broken right through! The original plan was to keep this fundraiser open for a week, but I now think it's best to cut short. I'll close it in about ~24 hours to give everyone who really wants to join in a chance. The deadline, then, is about 20:00 UTC on November the 14th. If you wanted to contribute but missed this changed deadline, his Patreon is a good alternative!

I deeply appreciate Visa's presence on Twitter and elsewhere, and when he mentioned in passing that his laptop was too old to handle streaming, I thought here's an opportunity to give back! After airing the thought on Twitter, it became abundantly clear I'm not alone in wanting this!

Not one but two people volunteered to put up matching funds, which means that every donated euro up to 1000 in total is tripled! If money is raised beyond this lofty goal, all of it will go to Visa to use however he'd like. So here's your chance to give a great Christmas present to our very own Internet neighborhood visionary!

A huge thanks to our generous benefactors: @jambarree and a mysterious anonymous person.

Why euros?

I'm raising the money on Visa's behalf, and that's what my bank takes. GoFundMe does not charge conversion fees, but your bank may. I'll be transferring the funds to Visa immediately after this thing is over. I've asked him if he's comfortable with this solution, and he is. I'll be as transparent as possible, and I'm sure he'll verify that it all got through. If trust is an issue, all I can say is my involvement with this community is worth far more to me than what we're talking about raising here.

What can Visa get for 3000 euros (the goal when you include matching funds)?

A brand spanking new Macbook with all the bells and whistles he'd like!

What do we get in return?

If we succeed in getting him enough money for a new Macbook, Visa's happily agreed to do a celebratory stream, and I'm sure he'll experiment more with streaming, which I think a lot of us will enjoy and benefit from!

How long will this campaign go on for?

Updated: The original plan was to give this a whole week, but that didn't prove necessary at all! The new deadline is about 20:00 UTC on November the 14th, which gives everyone who wants to top this off even more 24 hours to do that.
