Help Save Ian’s life - A kidney Transplant is His Only Hope
Ian has always been one of the kindest, most selfless person I’ve ever known. My childhood sweetheart, he has a heart of gold and a spirit that refuses to give up, even in the face of overwhelming odds.
Fourteen years ago, Ian experienced a sharp pain in his lower back. After days of agony, he received devastating news: he had Polycystic kidney disease, a cruel, inherited disorder that causes the kidneys to fail over time. This was a huge blow to Ian.
But Ian refused to let this disease define him. he continued to work hard as a heavy equipment operator, building a life in the U.S. after migrating from his home in Trinidad. He was living the American dream- until his health deteriorated. Over the years, Ian has endured many hospitalisation and eight surgeries. At one point, doctors feared he wouldn’t make it. But in true Ian fashion, he fought back, defying the odds yet again.
Today, at 44, Ian faces an unimaginable daily struggle. Dialysis treatments have left him with nerve damage, and after another surgery to save his foot, he now relies on a wheelchair.
Recently, Ian had undergo emergency heart surgery. Though he faced complications and required 24-hours oxygen support post-surgery, he has shown incredible resilience. Thankfully, his condition has improved, and is now off the oxygen. Despite the ongoing challenges, Ian remains hopeful- hopeful for a new Kidney, a second chance at life, and a future he still dreams of.
“I will always have hope and courage that I will overcome this adversity,” Ian told me.
“I dream of working full time again, finishing my degree, and maybe even starting a family. I would Love nothing more than to be a Loving Dad one day.”
Recently, Ian moved to another state for a chance at specialist care at the renowned
Mayo Clinic. There, doctors offer him hope- a potential kidney transplant could save his life. But this treatment comes at a cost that Ian, who has lost his savings and his home to mounting medical bills, cannot shoulder alone.
And so, I am asking for your help. The funds raised will go towards Ian’s treatment, physiotherapy, and essential equipment to help ease his suffering.
Though Ian May be 4,000 miles away, I pray for him every day and believe that breakthrough is just around the corner. He deserves this chance to live, to heal, and to one day become the man he dreams of being- a Loving husband and Father, free from pain.
Please, if you can, contribute to Ian’s journey towards recovery. Any amount will make a difference. And if you are unable to donate, sharing his story will help more than you know.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness, Love and support.
