Let's Give Back to Robin's Nest

With the heaviest heart, we have to say goodbye to our beloved Robin's Nest Childcare Center. Since 2018, Robin Bennett, Leah Johnson, Miranda Miller, and the rest of the team have always gone well above and beyond all expectations to support their students and their families with flexibility, compassion, and a warmth that made us feel like we were part of their extended family. Vacation days, half days, last-minute drop-ins, and an exceptional summer camp (including amazing field trips!) were all staples that they offered us when no one else would. They also actively gave back to the community they worked in and the people in it, whether it was with food and toy drives during the holidays or helping out a local family in need.

Almost immediately after opening, the center was beaming with color and bristling with activity, being full to the brim with young minds eager to learn and play. Those of us who attended from those early months on remember so fondly those happiest times. Infants seen napping peacefully from the main hallway, toddlers roaming around the playground greeting folks as they walked in the front door, and preschoolers and school-agers running around the large field outside for a level of fresh air and exercise unheard of elsewhere. We always received very detailed daily and weekly updates and photos, something other centers around seem to struggle with, that always brightened even the roughest days. Unfortunately, COVID struck and hit all of us hard with Robin's Nest being no exception to the trials and tribulations of those pandemic years and the subsequent challenges of inflation, being a small business in New York state, and providing quality and affordable care to a community already financially strained. In the end, it wasn't meant to be and our collective dream has come to an end.

In the aftermath of all this, there are still bills to pay and team members and families who need help even though the center will be no more. As a community, it's up to us to try and give back just a fraction of everything they have done for us and our children over the years. This fundraiser is to help the Robin's Nest team to move on to the next chapters in their stories with a little less worry as we all begin to move on without the center's light in our worlds. Any little bit you can provide will help them in their time of need.
