For those of you familiar with Elementary School our nighttime custodian, "Marc" is a fixture. Through the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, where he lost his home, job, etc., he found a chance to be relocated our county and become an employee of school system For anybody who has been at the school late at night during an event, Marc shoos us all out, telling us to go home and tuck in and kiss “his babies” as he sees our kids as just an extension of his own family. A few years back, the 4th grade class wrote a little book on him. I sat with him for 15 minutes as he went through it, page by page, wiping his tears away the whole time with the pride of a grandfather. At the present time, Marc’s father, still back in New Orleans, has been put in Hospice and is declining. He plans to go down to visit late this year/early next year. As a custodian, and trying his best to raise his grandchild, he and his wife are of meager means. Fortunately, because of my wife’s travel schedule, we have airline points to get him to New Orleans. We are trying our best to convince him to visit while his father is still able to communicate. He, being the humble man he is, is struggling with the decision to visit now, or to wait until the funeral. I want his GoFundme page to help him with his decisions, his father’s needs, and what is best for his family.
