Archie is a horse that was brought to the Horseshoeing school to be shod. The owner mentioned that he had a swelling just above his fetlock but was reasonably sound. Riley thought he had a bowed tendon or a sprained suspensory ligament.
We recommended X-rays due to the nature of the swelling and found out he has a broken pastern.
The options were to put him down or do surgery. The owner said to put him down. Riley felt that maybe we could help him due to the nature of the break and how sound the horse is.
So… we adopted Archie a few days ago.
We found an equine surgeon that feels like it is worth a shot. Help us help Archie!
