As a young doctor, Zenia has dedicated her life to saving others. She has helped deliver more than 200 babies working in the OB-GYN department. Now she and her family need our help. Two years ago, Zenia was diagnosed with a very aggressive type of breast cancer (triple negative). At that point in time, she was long-awaited pregnant with baby Vilde and the young family was starting a complete house renovation. With dust, paint, no hair and a growing belly, Zenia embarked on her long, tough and diligent battle against her breast cancer.

As friends and family, we have witnessed Zenia go all-in in a relentless fight against cancer: Chemotherapy during her pregnancy, giving birth, then radiation. Double mastectomy, removal of ovaries. Physical exercise, even on the tough days, to strengthen the body for the battle against cancer. She uses her extensive medical knowledge to dive into articles and research that can help her in the best way possible to kick the cancer to the ground. She has completely changed her diet and studied every inch of useful information on her type of cancer. Moreover, she aspires to help other women in the same situation as her and has managed to keep an open and positive mind throughout, despite the landslide of heartbreaking and bad news along the way.

However, Zenia is fighting an aggressive and insidious type of cancer. Despite chemo, radiation and all of her hard work, the cancer has returned.

If Zenia does not get the absolute best treatments that exists, her prognosis for living to witness her daughters 3 years birthday, is dismal. This is our drive and motivation for starting this funding campaign. Because outside the boarders of Denmark, new and effective treatments are available that can give Zenia the possibility of becoming cancer free, despite an otherwise untreatable diagnosis. In Denmark, we are yet to have access to the newest and most advanced breast cancer treatments. Only close to half of these new treatment types, already approved by the European Medicines Agency, have been approved in Denmark. But we are in no time to sit and await formal approvals. Zenia, who has herself helped so many, needs our help now. She is a fighter. In September this year, she ran – as a toddler mom and cancer patient – the Copenhagen half marathon. She has taken long walks with baby Vilde in the stroller with her body full of chemo. At the same time, she generously shares her thoughts and experiences on living with cancer on her Instagram account.

Zenia is not one to give up. But she needs all the best possible cards on her hand to have a fair, fighting chance against cancer. She deserves it, as does Jonas and her daughter Vilde. Therefore, we sincerely hope for your support. Whether that support is a donation or help in spreading awareness in your community.
