Let's Get Vanessa Back Into the Mountains!

Let's help Vanessa feel whole again. Let's help her move freely in the mountains, as she once did.

We're calling on friends, outdoor enthusiasts, bicyclists, skiers, and the community to support a dear friend, mother, and athlete's quest to get back in the mountains after a devastating accident that paralyzed Vanessa from the chest down in April of 2021. She cannot do this without our support.

Vanessa has fought hard to regain as much physical strength and mobility as possible and resumed her career as a nurse educator only 4 months after the accident, but life with a spinal cord injury is incredibly expensive.

No surprise, health insurance doesn't pay for the equipment necessary to live an injury-free life and Vanessa has spent all of her money-- $100,000-- on equipment and services to keep her body healthy and adapt her disability to the activities of everyday life, including a wheelchair for mobility, an adaptive car, rehabilitative therapies, therapy equipment, house modifications, and ergonomic equipment.

Vanessa yearns to get back into the mountains with her family and that is where we can help!

SPRING/SUMMER/FALL MOBILITY

A Bowhead Range Adaptive Trike: $24,500

This is a custom-built electric assist hand trike for on and off-road use. The trike is $22,000, adaptive rack is $2,000, and $500 in protective equipment to armor Vanessa's body and get her recreating with her family again.

WINTER MOBILITY

A Nordic Sit-Ski: $7,000

Vanessa demoed Sit-Skis the last two winters and it was a transformative experience for her and her family. Winters in Leavenworth can be long and hard for any of us. Let's help Vanessa get out with her family again.

GRANT AWARDED AND FOUNDATION ATHLETE!

Vanessa recently received a $6,500 grant from the Kelly Brush Foundation toward the purchase of her trike and is now an official Kelly Brush Foundation Athlete!!

Any donation you can make is sincerely appreciated. The goal of $25,000 will cover all equipment minus the grant money she has already received.

What a joy it will be to see Vanessa out enjoying the hills of the valley with her family once again!!
