Let's Get Suzette Home

Hi, my name is Shanika, and I am International Registered Nurse with Ogrady Peyton international from Jamaica.
I am raising funds for a fellow friend Suzette Brissett Carson, also an International Jamaican Nurse with Ogrady Peyton International, who suddenly passed on November 23, 2022.

“A smiling face,” “a gentle spirit,” family and goal-oriented, kind-hearted, determined,
honest, strategic, passionate, driven and resourceful are just a few of the phrases and adjectives that
aptly describe “Susie,” “Sue,” and “Suzette,” as she is affectionately called.

She was one of nine children. But her placement was no deterrent. It soon became apparent that
she was no ordinary child. She was always fixing broken things around the yard, sharing toys, and spreading love among her siblings and peers.

Her early formative educational years began at Gregory Park All Age. She continued to Willodeen High School,
where she outdid herself in the sciences. Inevitably, that catapulted her into her career path of becoming a
nurse.

As an avid member of the Gregory Park Seventh Day Adventist Church, whose religious beliefs and
values were steadfast, she felt Northern Caribbean University, “The Beacon on the Hill,” A Seventh Day
Adventist -based Institution, the only University at the time that was offering a Baccelerate of Science
A degree in Nursing was where she needed to be. In 2003 she enrolled in the Faculty of Nursing. Amidst
the financial hardship and personal turmoil, her resolve to be extraordinary was pivotal. Consequently in
2006, she was among the top-tier graduates of 150 ( the highest the Faculty has had to date). She
marched across the podium to collect her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.
It was a blissful moment encapsulating her hard work and determination, which she was proud of.

Her hope of better days was kept ablaze by her unwavering faith in God and personal resolve.
Immediately following graduation, she sought employment at the University Hospital of the West
Indies- the Premier Hospital in the Caribbean- where teaching, research and
patient-center care were its hallmark.
Her love for children saw her working many years as a Pediatric Nurse; then she later went on
to do a Post-basic Course in Operating Room Nursing, a passion she developed during her
professional journey.
Her professional life, like her personal life, was booming. On November 21, 2008, her long-time friend
and biggest fan, Junior Santie Carson, asked her hand in marriage, and she accepted graciously. The knot
was tied, and their love, respect, loyalty and deep-rooted Christian principles kept them inseparable. The union flourished and blossomed abundantly. Subsequently, it gave birth to a bouncing baby boy Jusantie Carson on………He was the pride
and joy of her family. And her desire to provide him with a bright future and ensure his
well-being and protection was constantly on her tongue.

On March 2022, after 15 so years of sterling service, she and her husband migrated to the USA to
secure their dream of a better life for their family.
Life began to improve. All seemed well. But in the midst of life, there is death. Plans were in the pipeline
to travel to Jamaica in December to lay her father to rest. But it was not long after that disaster struck.
A sudden twist of events unfolded.
On November 23, 2022, the unthinkable happened while Suzette was talking with her mother about her father's funeral arrangements. She suffered a massive heart attack. And even though paramedics were quick on the scene, she later
succumbed in the hospital. It would have been two days after her 14th wedding anniversary and two days
before her 49th birthday. Her fear of dying and leaving her son behind was dashed.

We solicit your kind assistance through monetary contribution in getting Suzette's body home to Jamaica, where she can be laid to rest alongside her father.
