I first met Sorrel just before they came to live with me after some friends evacuated them from a highly abusive situation. They were an awesome roomie — and they are a truly rad person — an anarchist, a punk, writer, hair stylist, creative gremlin, train rider, tarot reader, friend to dogs, and so much more. Even if they weren't awesome (though they are), they would still be deserving of care after surviving abuse. Their abuser, in addition to everything else, financially abused them, encouraging them to quit their job, isolating them, promising to help them get a car and then not following through, spending money and not being accountable for where funds went while they lived and traveled together — and all of it left Sorrel jobless and moneyless when they left the abusive situation and came to try and make a go of it in Pittsburgh.

They take the bus and catch rides from friends, but let's be real, Pittsburgh is a ton easier with a vehicle. They're also disabled and sometimes use a cane, so walking long distances is tough. To get them truly back on their feet and help them get to and from work and everywhere else, we're raising money to get them a used car. And we don't need much overall — just $3,500 should get something they can work with and cover getting it inspected and registered, too. So if you and me and the folks we know can chip in some spare change, we can get this twink a truck.
