Let’s Get Sophia On Her Feet

Hi Everyone,
It’s that time of year again when I will be asking for your support by sponsoring me to do the Great North Run.
Last year we chose a charity that helped my wife and I while our daughter Sophia spent time in hospital. This year we would like your support in something closer to home.
As most of you know, Sophia suffers from a rare genetic disorder called 1p36 Deletion Syndrome. One of the main side effects of this disorder is low muscle tone and global developmental delay. Sophia is 2.5 years old and still learning to sit independently.
At 3 months old we were told by doctors that she may never walk, but we absolutely believe she will! And we will do whatever we can to help her achieve this, and much more!
Our biggest wish is to send Sophia to the Footsteps Centre in Oxford. The centre provides intensive physiotherapy & rehabilitation for children with a range of disorders affecting their mobility.
The sessions work in 3 week blocks, an hour a day. One 3 week session costs just under £1000, and of course that does not include accommodation and fuel prices. My wife will be staying down in Oxford, a 3 hour drive, for the duration of the therapy so Sophia can attend the sessions.
Our aim is to improve and enhance Sophia’s quality of life by helping her reach her full potential.
The centre has helped so many children with 1p36 Deletion, with amazing results, and we don’t want Sophia to miss out!
