You may remember the wonderful school I volunteered with in 2015 called la Eco-Escuela Simataucca. Simataucca remains so near and dear to my heart... I actually got to visit the school with Patricia multiple times again this past October!
You may remember the wonderful school I volunteered with in 2015 called la Eco-Escuela Simataucca. Simataucca remains so near and dear to my heart... I actually got to visit the school with Patricia multiple times again this past October!
Because of the continuous hard work Patricia & the kids have been doing, applying for and winning awards to improve the school over the years... The school has *completely* transformed since I was first there in 2015. They now have an entirely new building, with new outside lights for safety, and they have all brand new computers and projectors!
Although all of these new lights and the new equipment is wonderful, everyone is concerned about how insanely high the energy bills are going to be once they are fully occupied again, and the impact on the environment. The energy prices in Peru have also been skyrocketing.
Luckily, we have the opportunity to help get them the gift that keeps on giving, and will give back for many, many years to come.
The wonderful non-profit I've been a part of, Mundo Sostenible, has designed a custom solar system for them, which will be PERFECT for the amount of sun they get and the intensity of the sun at that location.
The project total is approximately $8K, but Mundo Sostenible is going to pay for half of it, and together WE can help Patricia and Simataucca raise the other half!!
This is going to drastically help the community... This school is the heart and soul of this village! Kids LOVE going to school here and they LOVE to learn. And instead of paying expensive energy bills, they can pay for other things such as internet, food, school supplies, and other resources that they need. Also, during the installation we are teaching the kids about the technology so they can maintain the systems themselves and learn a new technology that could change the course of their futures!!
