Let's get Luke an Off-Road Wheelchair (MND)

Hi, I'm Jen, and on the 3rd June I'm going to complete the 3 Peaks Challenge to raise money for my little brother Luke, who last year was given the devastating diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease, at just 26 years old.

If you've arrived here on this page, there's a good chance you saw my half marathon fundraiser this time last year for Luke. We were all so overwhelmed by the huge generosity and support shown by everyone. THANK YOU so much for your support then, and also for coming back to read this now. 

To tell the story from the beginning...

Anyone who knows Luke will know him as a charismatic fun loving person, with passion for sport, adventure, travel and life. Basically all of Luke's previous interests and hobbies involve being physically active, which of course makes this diagnosis all the more upsetting as he adjusts to this new life. He already struggles to walk, and his symptoms are progressing alarmingly quickly. His life expectancy is short, and this has been absolutely heartbreaking for all of us close to Luke.

Almost imediately after his diagnosis, Luke was an absolute inspiration with his determination to 'fuck it' and live his life to the absolute fullest. He began a quest to see and experience as much of the world as possible. He's had a great year as far as travel goes, doing a few 3 month trips around Europe in his camper, and 6 months in Mexico - all with his wonderful girlfriend Becky. Thank you again to anyone who helped make this happen. 

Luke has now got to the point that he needs a wheelchair to continue having adventures. With his love for outdoors and sports, we hoped for him to have an Off Road Electric wheelchair but unfortunately this isn't provided through the NHS and they are extremely expensive (upwards of £11,000).

So, I thought it might be time for me to step up and try to make a difference once again for my little bro. 

The 3 Peaks Challenge: Climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon (Highest Peaks in Scotland, England and Wales) all within 24hrs! Will be doing it on 3rd of June 2023.
