Please Help Me Get To Eczema Expo 2019!

Donation protected
I have fought severe eczema since I was a child. Through the ups and downs, there has always been one constant: with this disease, you are continuously learning. Eczema is as much a mental and emotional illness as it is a physical sickness. You are constantly playing detective. You must be aware of how certain foods might make you itch through the night, how that simple workout left you in hives, or the way parts of your life trigger your anxiety and therefore exacerbate your symptoms.

One-size doesn’t fit all with Eczema. I find myself constantly trusting my current doctor’s opinion and method of care that either works at the time or makes things worse. I have also tried therapies that seem to work but end up having very bad side effects. Trial and error, trial and error.

With your help, I am hoping to continue learning about ways to heal in Scottsdale, AZ at the National Eczema Association’s Eczema Expo ‘19 https://nationaleczema.org where the leading Doctors and Specialists in the Eczema Community come to share their wisdom of new treatments, in both eastern and western medicine. They also give their advice on upkeep, giving you both tried and true methods and new ways of keeping your skin happy. Most importantly, there are discussions and breakout sessions where they discuss the mental and emotional impact Eczema has on you and the loved ones surrounding you. During these 4 days of healing in an allergen-free environment, you get to experience this alongside fellow eczema warriors. To be amongst people who just understand you without passing judgment and without need of an explanation offers so much healing in itself.

Please help me in my journey to healing! I have been told by previous attendees and organizers alike that for those of us who have dealt with this illness our entire lives, this is a life-changing experience. I just found out about Eczema Expo a few months ago! I am hoping that with your help, I can attend this event taking place in Scottsdale, AZ this coming July.

The $1,500 I am hoping to raise will cover the round-trip flight to Phoenix, AZ, Transportation to and from the Eczema Expo, Price of Admission, Activities, Meals, and a 3-night stay at the Hyatt Regency Hotel where the event is being held. I am also hoping that enough will be raised so that I can donate to the National Eczema Association, so that this may help further their work in bettering the lives of fellow Eczema Warriors.

Reasons why you might want to consider donating even if you don’t know me personally

- Lowered quality of life for patients with eczema is connected to decreased productivity.

- The annual economic burden of eczema is conservatively estimated at $5.3 billion.

- Children and adolescents with eczema have higher rates of depression, anxiety and conduct disorder.

- For the past few weeks, I began sharing my story through various social media platforms. There is a huge community out there, and I have fortunately reached several sufferers to exchange stories and offer support. With the knowledge I hope to gain from attending the Expo, I will relay this information to others who may not be able to attend. I truly hope to make an impact in the eczema world, no matter how small.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read this. I appreciate your empathy, kindess, and generosity more than you could ever know. ❤️
