Let’s get Leanne back home
Donation protected
Leanne Ellis has faced more challenges in the last few years than most of us could imagine. After enduring major spinal fusion surgeries in 2021, 2022, and 2023, Leanne discovered that she had further cracked vertebrae, as well as broken rods and screws in her back. In April 2024, she underwent yet another surgery to address these issues.
Unfortunately, during her recovery, Leanne contracted a serious golden staph infection, which caused her hardware to become infected. On May 28th, Leanne suffered a significant setback when she lost feeling in her legs and fell at home. This fall resulted in a ruptured T4 disc in her back, placing pressure on her spinal cord. Following this incident, Leanne was diagnosed with incomplete paraplegia.
Despite enduring multiple surgeries, Leanne's battle is far from over. She spent 8 weeks in the Royal North Shore spinal unit and is currently at Royal Ryde Rehab, working to regain any mobility she can. Leanne's strength and determination are awe-inspiring, but the road ahead remains challenging.
Leanne lives alone, and to maintain her independence, she will need significant modifications to her home. These modifications are crucial to ensuring that she can go home safely and continue her recovery in a supportive environment.
We are setting up this GoFundMe page to support Leanne in her journey toward recovery. Any funds raised will go directly toward making the necessary home modifications, including installing ramps, widening doorways, and making her bathroom and kitchen more accessible. These changes will allow Leanne to live as independently as possible and focus on her recovery without the additional stress of financial burdens.
Leanne has always been a source of strength and support for those around her. Now, it's our turn to support her. If you’re in a position to help, any contribution, big or small, will make a world of difference.
Thank you for your generosity and for being part of Leanne’s journey to reclaim her independence.
