Hello! I'm Julie Leir of Creative Moves, and I was on my way to share my interactive dance piece "Percolate" at the Elgin Fringe Festival, when life threw a rather large monkey wrench into my plans. A rather large monkey wrench into my traveling vehicle. She is down for the count, but I am a determined little marshmallow.

"Percolate" was born in Elgin, at the Fringe Festival in 2023 as a 20 minute short show. Where it not only received an award for being the "Fringiest of the fringe" and embracing a spirit of experimentation, that award was named after the show! (The "Percolator" award) I consider it one of the greatest honors of my life that I once won an award for being a weirdo! I am scheduled to perform the full length piece at the Elgin Fringe Festival in just a few days, starting Friday September 26! I am so very excited to share everything that I've brewed up with the community in Elgin, and the idea of having to cancel the performances truly breaks my heart!

So, I have been looking at options, and between busses there and a train ride back, I should be able to manage it. But of course the unexpected expense of having to pay for unplanned hotel stays and mechanic expenses has put rather a dent in my already shoestring travel budget. But I have a great community behind me, and although it is hard to ask for help, I am going to do it anyway. The amount of this fundraiser would cover a bus ticket to Elgin, and a train ride back home, with just a little on top to cover any needed uber rides, etc. I believe in the power of creativity, and I so love sharing this show where we create and share coffee and laugh together.
