UPDATE from Jordy's wife 3/26-
Jordy and I appreciate the unwavering love and support we have received from our family, friends and even strangers. Our experience in the DR was a nightmare, and this is an understatement. I can't even begin to explain what my husband went through as he was bounced from hospital to hospital from the date of his injury on 3/17, until his return to CT on 3/22. Money was being demanded at every stop before they would even administer basic care, pain management, and they wouldn't even release his medical records for us to secure a medical flight home. He lived this nightmare for 6 days while waiting to be airlifted back to CT. On 3/21 we went to Puerto Plata airport to get on our med vac flight and the plane broke down, we waited on the plane for 5 hours while they tried to fix it. Unfortunately, we were not able to fly out that day and had to wait for our rescue flight on 3/22. This entire experience has been a rollercoaster of emotions. Living this firsthand put the value of life, love and the freedom of living in the United States of America into perspective; simple things we may take for granted.
If it weren't for the persistence of family and friends calling John Larsen's office, Blumenthal's office, as well as the embassy and with the help of Jordy's employer (Cummins/Jake's Brakes) we would still be stuck in DR. Jordy is blessed to work for such a wonderful company and we are blessed for the persistence and connections that were made to get Jordy home.
Jordy has suffered extensive injuries to his femur, hip, knee, eye, cheek, jaw, and teeth and most of these areas were crushed from his ATV accident. He just received femur, knee, and hip surgery and on the 28th he will get surgery on his jaw, teeth, orbital bone, nose and cheek.
Jordy's recovery will be long and hard. He will not be returning to work for an undetermined amount of time as he goes to rehab and then home to recover. During that time the financial obligations, upkeep of our home, as well as providing care for both Jordy and our children (one who turns 2 in May) will be in my hands. Our journey will be long, it will be hard, it will test our faith and Jordy's will, but with the continued love from all of you, he will push through and come out even stronger than he was! We love you and thank you again for everything! It takes a village!
Hi, my name is Paris and my friends and I created this gofundme, with their permission, to help our friends & family Jordy & Marisa Osbourne. Jordy was recently involved in a serious ATV accident while in the Dominican Republic. Jordy has severe injuries including a broken hip, 2 broken legs, a broken nose, a fractured jaw, injuries to his eye, and possible head injuries, amongst others, and we are awaiting scans to check for internal bleeding.
The hospitals in DR will not provide care without upfront payment, including pain management, and will only give his wife limited information. Jordy cannot fly commercial due to his injuries. A medical flight from DR to CT is roughly $50,000, while even a flight to Miami still runs the family nearly $30,000. As you all know, Jordy recently buried his father and has young children and a wife who rely on him tremendously. Jordy will likely be out of work for quite some time, leaving everything on his wife, Marisa. Our focus at this point is getting Jordy home, where his medical insurance will hopefully cover more adequate care.
Marisa and Jordy are 2 of the most loving people we know, they are givers, and if any couple is deserving of our love and support it is them. Marisa will be flying out to DR in the morning. Any amount helps. Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you in advance for being a blessing to The Osbournes.
UPDATE: the hospital is refusing to release Jordy’s medical records or release him to his wife without further payment. Those who wish can send her cash directly (as gofundme can take days to clear) to any of the apps below:
