Hello my name is Alicia, I'm a 31 year old Entrepreneur living in Romford and I'm here seeking your support to help my dear friend Jo get off the streets & back to living the life I know she deserves.
I have been supporting Jo myself when I can by providing her with warm drinks, food, money, items of clothing and most recently an overnight stay in a hotel but I KNOW that this issue is bigger than me and with the kindness of your support I want to help Jo get back on her feet again.
Jo has been on the streets for 1 year and 6 months and has always lived in Romford.
She lost it ALL - her home, her car, her career, her family as a result of a previous abusive relationship which sent her into a downward spiral in her mental health, where she then ended up on the streets.
Jo has 3 children, 2 daughters 24 & 18 and a son of 12 years old.
She desperately wants to see her children and manages to speak to her youngest and oldest child, but she's lost all contact with her 18 year old daughter since September 2022.
Before being on the streets Jo had a passion for fashion as she was studying textiles and fashion at University and she said she was SO PROUD to pass year one, although it took her 3 years to pass due to her personal circumstances.
It was the physical and emotional abuse of her past relationship that lead to her dropping out of university and giving up on her dream which gets us to where she is now.
Jo told me that she hates herself for making that one bad decision, that relationship that undid her whole life as she knew it.
She's recently been struggling so much so that she shared with me she feels that she no longer sees the incentive on why she should live anymore.
As the nights get colder, she's sleeping the streets, forced to beg due to her circumstances to pay for somewhere to stay and food to eat.
She often watches 200-300 pass her without even acknowledging her existence, as she said to me last night "sometimes it's not even about the money, it would just be nice to say hello."
The system has failed Jo and in the time I have known her she's had countless issues with social housing & was honest in saying that at times that has been due to her fault too, but she's determined now to make a change and I am too determined to get her the support so she can start living the life I know she deserves.
We are raising funds first and foremost to get Jo back on her feet so she can find accommodation to live in and have some cash to get her started back in living life again.
Her ultimate dream is to be reunited with her children and to get back into the Fashion industry to see her passion for fashion through.
Whatever you can donate - whether that be a £ donation of any size or indeed sharing this page so we can reach far and wide I'd most appreciate it and I know that Jo will to!
