In June 2020 my friend and coworker Deana was in a head on collision when a truck crossed the center line. She was air lifted to the closest trauma center and her medical team saved her life. She suffered multiple fractures and underwent surgery and months of rehabilitation before she was able to walk again. Her faith, family, friends, stubborn will, and sense of humor got her through many difficult days.

 

She continued to have daily pain related to her injuries and underwent additional surgery a couple weeks ago in hopes that she would be able to regain more mobility and have less pain. The surgery was successful but she has had a number of issues with her heart since the surgery requiring that she be readmitted to the hospital several times with plans to move from our local hospital to Wake Forest this week for more specialized cardiac care.

 

I have had the privilege of working with Deana since I joined Pardee in 2013. She is a brilliant nurse and has devoted her life to caring for and bringing joy, laughter, and compassion to people who are facing much fear and uncertainty.

 

Despite insurance, medical bills have added additional stress to an already very stressful situation. Please consider contributing to help pay for these outstanding expenses so she and her family can focus on her healing.
