LETS GET BRIAN WALKING AGAIN FUND !

Donation protected
Brian entered the hospital in June 2014 for a routine bunion surgery.  After returning home to heal, an infection had quickly set in and shortly  after that he returned to the hospital to receive care.  It was then that Dr's informed him that he had contracted MRSA (a bacterial infection).  These types of infections are often contracted in the hospital but without proof there was no recourse to hold them accountable.  His infection from MRSA ran rampant through his blood stream causing life threatening blood clots, etc!  At one point we were very scared for his life and each time they operated there was a huge risk of complications . Through the next year Brian had seven surgeries to control the infection that was in his foot and eleven months in rehab . His foot continued to get worse and a partial amputation of his foot was needed. After the amputation he had to learn to balance and walk all over again.  During this time he fell and shattered his ankle...need I say more?  He has been though more than one person should have to endure! Unfortunately this was not the end...for the last two years since the partial amputation he has endured severe nerve pain that keeps him from proper rest and all the activities he enjoys!  Hoping that time would heal and the pain would subside, Brian continued, as always, to have a positive attitude and pushed through all the set backs! So here we are almost three years later and still no relief.  In fact, the nerve pain has worsened.  After consulting with his Dr (a specialist) and 4 other Dr's on his team the only option for a reduction of pain and a better quality of life is for a  below the knee amputation of his leg!The surgery is scheduled for 9/15/17.
We are starting this GoFundMe for Brian as his surgery will be going forward and after care is going to be a huge challenge being on a fixed income from disability.Medicare pays 80% only and he has no secondary due to the fact his disability only gives him so much to live on.  He will have three to four months after the amputation to heal before a prosthetic leg is made for him.  Not only is this going to be physically hard for him to take care if his leg is to heal properly,  the mental aspect is equally as important!  In addition to all that,  he still has MRSA  which is a life long infection that must be paid close attention to.  It is our hopes that with this GoFundMe Brian will be able to hire a nurse to visit and change bandages  , as well as use the funds to buy medicine  ,  and all other supplys needed  to ensure his healing is without risk .  Brian is a Navy vet, a kind and loving person with a heart of gold!  He is an active member of his church and volunteers for many causes for those less fortunate, including a program he has participated in for alcohol and drug addicts and the success of their recoveries.  I do not know of a more deserving person to receive a helping hand!  He is humble and never reaches out when he is in need but has always been there for others his entire life!  So ... let's get Brian walking again! No donation is too small ... it takes a village and we thank you in advance!
