I've started up this gofundme for Rebecca an amazing client of mine who lives with Friedreich Ataxia.https://brainfoundation.org.au/disorders/friedreichs-ataxia/
F A is a rare genetic degenerative nerve disease affecting muscle coordination and also the heart.
Bek receives 24 hr care to enable her to remain in her home. I've been fortunate enough to be part of Bek's team for the last 18 months. Bek displays so much courage and positivity in her adversity and I think this is a way of acknowledging how much she enriches our lives as carers and the gratitude she has for us.
As Bek's disability progresses she is finding it more difficult to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle. Although she has a personal trainer who trains her with boxing and strength training she also requires more cardio fitness.
This is where our request comes in. She has had a trial use of a stationary bike which she is able to roll up to in her wheelchair taking away the dangerous transfers she had using a conventional exercise bike.
The bike is not covered by NDIS and at a cost of $8500 is out of reach to her to purchase alone.
