Let’s Get Barbara to Kona

Barbara Holmes - 63 years old and local Lytham legend , has recently qualified for the 2022 IronMan world Championships in Kona Hawaii

 

This amazing achievement is the icing on the cake to a truly formidable few years for Barbara in the world of endurance sports, including sprint , standard and Long distance triathlon - Barbara is the Current World Champion for her age group in Sprint Distance and has now challenged herself with Iron Distance

 

In her first race at this distance - Barbara WON her age group racing Iron Man Majorca - which included a 2.4 mile swim , 112 mile bike ride then a 26.2 mile marathon !!

 

At any age this is no mean feat , however at 63 years old Barbara is keeping up with, and beating women many years younger than her.

 

The reason for the page is the cost to get to Kona is incredibly high and there is no funding available to help from Team GB - so I have offered to help raise funds through this platform

Barbara Is very shy and not too tech savvy, so I will be sharing her journey , intense training program and invaluable knowledge with you all through social media
