Hello! One of my close friends is going through the traumatic experience of losing a child to Trisomy 13. She has a husband and two children to provide for all the while. We thought it would be a great idea to provide them with meals so that mom has the time to process and heal. All the proceeds here will buy Uber eats, GrubHub, and restaurant gift certificates. Her story is this...
Mama found out she was pregnant back in January. A few days later she experienced some bleeding; the ER told her she had miscarried and to go home to let her body handle things naturally. Days went by and nothing happened. She went to her OB's office in a desperate attempt to get things moving so she could move on. The doctor decided to do an ultrasound prior to offering her medication that would ultimately end her pregnancy. To her surprise there was a bouncing baby in there! Her sorrow turned to joy, unfortunately that joy would be constantly interrupted with intermittent bleeding and no answers as to why. The doctor decided on another ultrasound to rule out any problems and while baby was well nestled into Mom's womb, the heart beat was too fast for the doctor's liking. She was referred to a maternal fetal specialist in an effort to identify any problems. Just prior to her first appointment with the specialist, she received word that her routine blood work showed that baby may have Trisomy 13. Scared out of their minds, mom and dad went to the specialist's office only to have their worst fears confirmed. Baby has a very severe instance of Trisomy 13. This was what Mom had to say,
"The baby has a lot of swelling around the body already, the heart has defects and isn’t even in the right place, the face is all abnormal and the brain has a lot of defects too.
So, we have some really hard decisions to make.
We are absolutely devastated."
The doctor has noted that there is 0 chance of survival for baby, and that mom and dad need to make their peace with that and plan accordingly.
This has been a traumatic few weeks for this young family. As you can imagine, finding the motivation to cook and provide for your family during this time, is extremely difficult. This family needs our help. Thank you so much for donating.
