Let's Cool those Cats!

Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit Chilliwack Animal Safe Haven Society, and any donation will help make an impact. The Safe Haven wants to provide efficient heating and cooling for cats in the outside units. The last two summers have been brutally hot. The units currently have baseboard heaters that are very costly to operate and the fans we've added only move hot air. Our solution is to put an energy efficient heat pump in each of the 4 buildings. And to help reduce the costs further, we plan to install solar panels on the barn out back. It is estimated that will cut the hydro bill in half. In the last year alone prior to this heat wave, our hydro bill increased by 20% and our gas bills went up as well. We are applying for a BC Gaming Grant (Capital) which would cover half the cost. Instead of $84,000, it would cost $42,000. It's a lot of money, we know, but we are experiencing higher than ever numbers of surrenders and strays.
