This GoFundMe is being created on behalf of Ashley Starcher and A.J. Kyle. On September 10th, their mother, Dorothy Kyle, went into cardiac arrest at her place of work, Ruby Memorial Hospital. Hospital staff tended to her quickly and were able to get her pulse back. She was intubated and sent to the cardiac cath lab and was ultimately placed on ECMO. She did not have a heart attack. Hospital staff are leaning towards an electrical issue with the heart. Further assessment by an electrophysiologist should determine the cause and treatment options when she is strong and stable enough to endure it. Dorothy is currently in the CVICU, intubated, on pressors, and on ECMO, requiring round-the-clock care.

She was unresponsive for a period of time and did not gain full cognitive capability. However, when the intensivist asked her if she could give a thumbs up, Dorothy shook her head yes. Since that time, she has been medically sedated.

Dorothy is kind, sweet, and always willing to help anyone in need. Her hospital stay and recovery will take time. She may have short/long term disability, but that is only a portion of what she makes and uses on daily living expenses. With this type of situation, the outcome and recovery times vary. Additional medical treatment and/or supplies may be needed once she pulls through the difficult road ahead. If anyone is able to help out in any way, it would be greatly appreciated.
