Hello friends and community. For those of you that are not acquainted with me, my name is Silvia and I live in Glen Rose. Our community is one that always comes through for our kids and so it is my prayer that we can come together for one of our community children once again. This GoFund Me is for Brooklyn Teal. Brooklynn is ten years old and is normally a very active and bright child. She is currently a patient at Dallas Children's Hospital. They are treating her for a condition called Moya Moya and Pulmonary Hypertension (enlarged right ventricle). There is a medication that is only approved for adults at this time. It is still in clinical trials and not approved for children. The hospital covered the first dose. It cost $20,000 and will need to be administered every three weeks. While the first dose has already been administered, it is uncertain if the next dose or doses will be covered. At this time, her parents have already reached out to Blue Cross Blue Shield, MERk Patient assistance program and our Texas representatives. For now, the only hope they have is community. The Teals are not giving up seeking out other options, but Brooklynns next dose will come due before there is resolve from outside medical agencies. I could go on and on, but let's just do this! Let's come together as a community and help the Teals secure at least a few months of doses and pray that the insurance and other agencies reconsider and give them relief.
