For those of you who know Aleta, know that she is an amazing team member and friend. Aleta has been a member of my team since I started in April of 2022, and has been a tremendous support to the patients, clients, and team members at The Children's Insitute. As Aleta's Supervisor, I know that I can always count on a welcoming hello when I arrive in the mornings along with words of encouragement to start my day. Aleta is always positive and willing to provide support to those in need, which is why when I received a call from Aleta on the night after Christmas the fundamental "care like it's a member of your own family" jumped to mind. Aleta called to inform me she needed to take time off. When I asked if everything was okay she proceeded to tell me that after being away for the holiday weekend visiting with her daughter and grandchildren she came home to her pipes bursting on her second floor, flooding her home and causing her furnace to stop working. Due to the frigid temperatures, Aleta's home was encased in ice and was not livable. Aleta and her son are still waiting for an insurance adjuster to assess the damages and are currently displaced. They are residing in a hotel until repairs can be made to her home. With that being shared, I without hesitation began to start looking to identify support for her and her son. I hope that we can find a way to come together as a team to help support Aleta and her son during this challenging time.
