Keeping Keith going
Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and colleagues, For the last 2 decades, Keith has been living with serious health complications, which damaged his heart to the point of no repair.
Keith is married with a 14 year old son. Over the past several years, his health has started to deteriorate, so in 2019, Keith was added to the heart transplant list. Obviously, this is a serious operation, but it is one that has been performed countless times at this hospital. His medical team was confident that this transplant would give Keith a better quality of life. Keith and his family were so grateful to be able to receive this 2nd chance in life.
The operation itself went as expected. However, Keith's recovery was very slow. Keith was not receptive to the transplant, and he was placed in a medically induced coma for 3 months. It was later uncovered that the transplanted heart had a hole in it, and this information was withheld from Keith and his family prior to, and immediately after, the operation.
Keith was unable to maintain his employment and, as a result, lost his health insurance coverage and his income. The financial burden has forced Keith and his family to make the tough decision to move out of New York City. Keith is no longer able to walk unassisted and requires the use of a wheelchair the majority of the time. He has also lost feeling and movement to one side of his body, and his cognitive thinking has been permanently damaged.
Any amount that you can donate will help keith and his family tremendously with living expenses and continued medical treatment.
Mark and I (Dorothy) recently visited Keith while he was still in NY this week. While he was very happy to see us, it was almost unbearable and unbelievable for us to see him like this. Keith has made an impact in so many lives, including ours! So, with Keith's blessings, we have decided to start a GoFundMe to help our dear friend, mentor, and colleague.
We invite you to donate if you can and please help share this link. ALSO, Keith would love to hear from you or read any message you would like to leave on this link.
If you have any questions before you donate, you can contact Mark or Dorothy.
