1 in 5 Neighbours Need a Friendly Face: Can You Help?
Did you know that 1 in 5 older adults feel lonely for long periods of time?
In a town like Stafford, that means thousands of our neighbours might go days without hearing another person’s voice.
At Companion Grove, we don't think anyone should be left alone just because they can't afford help. That is why we started the
Friendly Face Fund.
Bringing the Outside In
Loneliness can be very quiet, and for many, the cost of a visitor is a barrier they just can't cross. We want to remove that barrier. Our fund makes sure that every older adult can have a Companion visit them at home, regardless of their budget.
A Companion visit is a simple but life-changing thing:
- A proper chat over a hot cup of tea.
- Help with a hobby or a bit of "light pottering" in the garden.
- A listening ear for those stories that deserve to be heard.
- Help with knowing where to go for help.
Your donation helps us reach that "1 in 5" who are currently sitting in silence.
£7 funds a 'neighbourly lift' : the average cost for travel for our Companions to provide a local visit.
£15 will kick start our efforts to begin bringing people together in a local hall near you.
£30 helps us find and train more local people to become Companions.
Our £450 target is to ensure we have funds for those who might need some companionship can get a friendly visit at little or no cost.
