The Need
I have friended a man who is down on his luck. He is a widower whom I believe, to some extent, gave up on life for a while. He is not a violent man and there is no alcohol or drugs involved. However he isn't perfect - but neither are we. We are all in need of grace and mercy and love. He has made mistakes in the past but he's making genuine life changes and it's simply amazing to watch the transformation.
He is definitely trying to get back on his feet. This is certainly understandable that your life could fall apart after losing a spouse. Simply put, he is in dire need of assistance to fix up his home so that he can continue to thrive and make good decisions as we help him along this new path in life.
Immediate large needs include:
insulation
complete drywall gut and reinstall
electrical checkup
plumbing repair
flooring
front door
windows
hvac repair
new duct work
I am helping him because it is the right thing to do. It doesn't matter if he is religious or has certain political values. He is a human who is hurting.
I need financial resources as well as donations of building materials and labor. The initial financial goal is set based on my understanding of what it would take to get his home fixed to a suitable living condition. Nothing fancy but something that will be warm and safe.
Labor from licensed, bonded, and insured contractors to help do the work would be an added plus. As you can imagine he is being very cautious with anyone trying to help him at this time. Please consider donating to this cause. The country is divided as it is. Let's start to heal it one person at a time. This is a fine place to start.
Why I am helping
Matthew 25:40 states “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'"
At some point during our life, we need someone to stand for us when we can't truly stand for ourself. In today's world it's easy to be pessimistic and negative. However, as a Christian I am called to reflect the light of Jesus and try to make it better for people here on this old dark Earth by acting as His hands and feet.
So, I am standing for a man needs to witness the love of Christ from his brothers and sisters here on Earth. I have no reason to believe this man is mis-leading or trying to deceive me. The pictures of his home tell a story of a broken man. With your help, we can have a direct impact on someone's quality of life.
Will you stand with me and represent a man who is trying to get back on his feet?

We realize that not everyone has cash to donate. However, odds are you have books in NEW condition which you may not even need. You may ship these books to our outreach ministry. We will inventory the book donations and market them online. Books which we can't use are donated to Home Habitat so your generosity can bless other lives. 6/7/2018 - Smoky Mountain Outreach will be bringing about 200 kids for a service work camp to help whip the house into shape in mid June. We are still in need of donated money and materials. Please see our latest posts.
