Let's build a gateway to knowledge and inspiration !

My name is Andar, and I am the founder of Lombok Volunteer Homestay, a humble initiative born from a big dream: to provide better education and opportunities for the children in my village, West Sekotong, Lombok. This journey began when I was just 17 years old. My parents, despite their hard work, could not afford to send me or my three siblings to middle or high school. Faced with this reality, I realized that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty—not just for me, but for generations to come.

With the belief that teaching someone how to fish is better than simply giving them fish, I started teaching English to the children in my village. My goal was simple: to equip them with skills that could open doors to opportunities and help improve their lives and the lives of their families. From a small space in my home, Lombok Volunteer Homestay has grown into a community where volunteers from around the world come together to support the education of our children.

However, this mission has never been easy. To this day, we rely on makeshift spaces for learning. Can you believe that the nearest library is miles away? It’s nearly two hours from our village, and even farther for the children in southern Lombok.

We are in desperate need of a proper space for education, teaching, and support. A proper classroom and a library: a gateway to knowledge and inspiration for the children.

I invite all of you to be part of this journey. Your support, no matter how small, will be a giant step toward a brighter future for the children of Lombok. Please don't hesitate to talk about us and share the fundraising link with your friends and family.

Together, we can create real change!

Andar

(This fundraising campaign was created with the help of a French family who came to volunteer and became our friends. They are helping me because I am unable to open a fundraising campaign in my country.)
