Help us build a dormitory for girls in Kenya!

Our names are Skylar, Theo, Alexandra, Olivia, and Cowboy. 

Over the summer, we visited Kenya and got to see so many cool places. One of the schools that left a lasting impression on us was in the Masai Mara: The Iltolish Mara Primary School. When we got there, everyone was really nice and super excited to see us. A group of 7-year-olds even whisked our youngest cousin away - they were really excited to show him their classrooms!

As we looked around the school though, we were surprised to see how different it was from our own schools. The buildings were small and not well-furnished. The kitchen was a shack made of tin and wood. We learned that many of the kids had to walk to school without adults while facing dangerous animals like elephants!

To help their students, the school started to build dormitories so that the kids didn't have to walk back and forth to school as much, as well as making sure that each  kid got 3 good meals a day. Through the Africa Foundation , they raised funding for a boys dormitory, but haven’t yet for the girls. The girls are currently staying in a makeshift hut made of wood and tin. Space is cramped and the bunk beds are even smaller!

When we saw this, we really wanted to help out. People of all ages and genders deserve equal access to a good education without potential pressure to stay at home and get married early.  We, as kids from the Bay Area, are lucky enough to have not experienced these situations, and now it is our responsibility to help others avoid the pressure.

Please help us raise money to create a brighter future for these girls in Kenya by helping to build a dormitory! Any amount is appreciated and all funds will go to the Africa Foundation, which is overseeing the construction of the boys' dorm. Our hope is to get the girls' dorm started as soon as the boys' dorm is finished so that the girls can move in later this spring.  Thank you!
