Let's bring Spikey Dude home

My little man Spike....or to most, Spike Le Chat!

I know some might say, a cat is just a cat, but to me, Spike is my everything. And I don’t say that in the typical “My pet is my best friend” way, but in the “There’s no way this is a cat!” way.

When I got Spike 9 years ago, he made sure to tell me it wasn’t going to be a quiet ride. In true Bengal fashion, he screamed his way into my heart quite quickly. Spike was never happy with just being a cat. He always needed to be more. Fast forward a few years and I now have a cat who thrives on a lead, spends his time chasing chipmunks and squirrels, and sunbathes (whenever this country has sun!). Don’t get me wrong, in true cat fashion, he loves a cardboard box, wire tie and headboops, and he always makes it known that he’s the boss. From builders and repairmen coming to the house, to friends visiting, everyone gets an earful and falls in love with his deep piercing eyes and cool looking spotting.

Spike bravely took the jump with me in 2019 and moved across the pond, from Canada to the UK to start a new life. When far away from home, with no one to call family, Spike has been my right hand man every step of the way. From my very lows to my very highs, Spike has cheered me on and held me close. Now it’s my turn to be his right hand woman and save him when he needs me the most.

A week ago, Spike became lethargic and was vomiting blood. He’s since been in hospital and the nice vets are working around the clock to work out what is wrong with my little dude. They’ve determined he has pancreatitis, an infection and a lot of inflammation in his gut. We are still doing tests and biopsies to work out the cause. He has swollen lymph nodes and the vets have considered it may be cancerous. However, they know he’s young and healthy and they are hopeful they can treat it.

I’m starting this Gofundme because if the vets aren’t giving up on him, I can’t give up. He deserves the best shot at a full life. As you can imagine, that comes at a cost. I’m not one to beg, but for Spikey, I’d do just about anything. So I ask you to consider helping him, helping me. If this isn’t something you can do, I ask that you pass this on as someone else might be in a position to help us. The world needs a little more Spike, for a little while longer.
