Our mother traveled to Stanford, CA to receive treatment for her Rare Brain Disease called Moyamoya.

Due to suffering several strokes since May 2021 with her latest being in December 2021 which caused severe symptoms, she needed to undergo urgent brain surgery.

She was scheduled to undergo two rounds of brain surgery, the first would treat her Moyamoya on the right side of her brain through Direct Brain Bypass with the second treating her Moyamoya on the left side of her brain through Direct Brain Bypass and also treating an Aneurysm also located on the left side.

All seemed to have gone well after the first surgery, but about 2 days later she started to show troubling symptoms which then resulted in her suffering a major stroke that has left her unresponsive.

She has now been in Stanford for over 2 months and has had other issues arise from her current state.

Apart from coordinating travel to be her caregivers and advocate for her care, we have been working tirelessly to bring her back home. With her safety being the most important factor, her only option for travel is through a medical flight. We tried to work this with her insurance but unfortunately they will not help arrange or cover her flight home among other things.

We are starting this gofundme in hopes to raise funds to help us afford this transport for her and finally have her back home with her loved ones where she belongs. Any donation will help us get closer to our goal and closer to bringing her back.

Nuestra madre viajó a Stanford, CA para recibir tratamiento por su rara enfermedad cerebral llamada Moyamoya. 

Debido a que sufrió varios derrames desde Mayo 2021, con el último en Diciembre 2021 que causó síntomas graves, necesitaba someterse a una cirugía cerebral urgente. 

Estaba programada para someterse a dos rondas de cirugía cerebral, la primera trataría su Moyamoya en el lado derecho de su cerebro a través de Direct Brain Bypass y la segunda trataría su Moyamoya en el lado izquierdo de su cerebro a través de Direct Brain Bypass y trataría un aneurisma que también se encuentra en el lado izquierdo. 

Todo parecía haber ido bien después de la primera cirugía, pero 2 días después comenzó a mostrar síntomas preocupantes que luego provocaron que sufriera un derrame cerebral mayor que la dejó incapacitada. 

Ella ha estado en Stanford durante más de 2 meses y ha tenido otros problemas derivados de su estado actual.

Además de coordinar los viajes para ser sus cuidadores y abogar por su cuidado, hemos estado trabajando incansablemente para traerla de vuelta a casa. Dado que su seguridad es el factor más importante, su única opción para viajar es a través de un vuelo médico. Intentamos trabajar con su seguro, pero lamentablemente no ayudaron a organizar ni cubrir su vuelo a casa, entre otras cosas.

Estamos comenzando este gofundme con la esperanza de recaudar fondos para ayudarnos a pagar este transporte para ella y finalmente tenerla de vuelta en casa con sus seres queridos, donde pertenece. Cualquier donación nos ayudará a acercarnos más a nuestra meta y más cerca de traerla de vuelta.
