Let's Bring Justice for Roseville Preschool

Hello, my name is Christina Yaeger. My husband and I are the owners of Happy Hearts Learning Center in Roseville, CA. We opened an in home daycare in 2013 and it quickly grew to need more space. After having a waitlist for years, we partnered with The Family Church in January of 2020 and signed a lease to rent out their Sunday classrooms. Happy Hearts offered a unique program for children to learn, grow and play. Fast forward 3 1/2 years, with no breach of contract, the pastor of The Family Church, Matthew Oliver, decided he wanted the classrooms back for his own gain. We are currently in a lease with The Family Church until May of 2026.
Oliver continued to suffocate and squeeze our business out. He told us that he was going to be expanding his school and that he needed our space by Friday 9/1. We said no, however what is legal & ethical, and what they are physically doing are completely opposite. They are now sending threatening letters to us, have kept and/or opened our mail, and this morning removed our advertisement banner that was hung on the fence. Today 8/30 they showed up trying to decorate for their classrooms and take all the tables and chairs out that our children were sitting in and using! The past couple of weeks, they have popped in multiple times and harassed the teachers about moving out, told them to find a new job (even offered a job to one of them), made our parking situation very difficult and had completely blocked our entrance and told us we could no longer use our entrance. It has become a very toxic business relationship because of them and put our staff in a very uncomfortable situation. I was advised to continue business until I couldn't anymore and that unfortunate day was today. Oliver has made it impossible for us to continue our preschool. They threatened that if our items were not out by Friday 9/1, then they will consider it property of theirs. I do not doubt that that they would take our belongings. They have done this over the years for their own use and lied about taking items of ours. Still missing to this day! Oliver lied about his knowledge and awareness of our preschool, yet physically brought his child to our childcare center and paid us to watch his child and is just now saying something 3 1/2 years later! Today's events escalated quickly and Roseville PD was dispatched.
With all of this being said, we do not think it is fair to continue to operate in this stressful environment. We moved our items out of the building today in lieu of their threats. This situation needs to be brought to light and justice needs to be done. We are parents of 6 children, we grew up in Placer County and this was our livelihood to put food on the table, pay the bills and allowed our kids to enjoy their sports and activities. For someone to bully, threaten and physically shut down our life, needs to be brought to light. Oliver has done this to too many people over the years and it needs to stop here. He cannot keep hurting people and their ability to provide for their families. We have had so many wonderful memories and were able to invest in hundred's of children's lives and I truly pray that we made their hearts happy.
100% of the proceeds from this Go Fund Me account will be used to pay for attorney fees to file a lawsuit against The Family Church and the Oliver Family.
