As we grow older, we realize that everyone is facing some kind of battle in their lives. Physical, mental, emotional, financial, whatever it may be, these struggles can be crushing. My dear friend, Hope, has had her own share of troubles, but as a trainer at our gym, she used those as motivation to encourage and uplift those around her. Hope is not afraid of a tearful conversation, she relishes getting real, and always pushes people to break through barriers holding them back both on and off our gym floor. Her love of people has created community and a safe space for many, many people looking for a gym "home" over the past year.
Recently, her Dad, Darrell, was given emergency surgery for a tumor in his brain. Last week they received the most devastating news, that the tumor was stage 4 glioblastoma cancer, and without medical treatment Darrell was given around 4 months to live. Thankfully, Darrell begins treatment at the Cancer Center on June 26th, but has a long road ahead of him! The Mielke family is hopeful to have many more years to come! However for now, they find themselves facing a monumental battle.
Darrell is a father of three children, of which Hope is the middle child. Her younger brother, Jacob, is away at school, but is encouraging the family from a distance. Her oldest brother, Kyle, suffered a brain bleed in utero, and has been nonverbal and wheelchair bound his entire life. Hope’s mother, Deanna, is the ultimate caregiver and spends her days taking care of Kyle and running their household. This means, that Darrell provided the family's only source of income. Unable to work, the Mielke family needs our support now more than ever. Hospital bills, groceries, living expenses, and more will continue to pile up as Darrell is healing, fighting, and away from his job. As the Mielke's continue to believe for a miracle, they need our help.
I have no reservations asking you to give generously to someone who has given so much of herself to so many day in and day out. I know countless men and women who would say they are encouraged daily, brought joy in each workout, and ultimately, changed for the better because of Hope. It's our turn to embrace, encourage, and support Hope and her family as they face a million little battles during Darrell’s brave fight!
Your prayers, financial gifts, love, and support mean the world to her family, and to me. Let's bless the socks off this family.
Two Claps,
Carolotta
