Let's All Support Megan and the MacDonald Family!

On Monday May 29, our best friend Megan was in a serious ATV accident at work. She sustained multiple injuries to her spine, heart, and ribs and was taken via LifeFlight to the QEll in Halifax where she immediately underwent two emergency surgeries.

Megan is now stable but as her sister Ashley said: Megan will be in hospital for a while yet, and will be transferred to the rehab center for an extended stay once she has healed. She still has several fractured ribs and swelling at the site of the injury. As is the unique nature of spinal cord injuries, it may be months until her care team is able to give a prognosis regarding long-term mobility. As a member of her surgical team said "this will be a marathon, not a sprint".

Megan’s family have been so supportive during this extremely challenging time. This means Mama Lu, Papa Paul, and her sister Ashley are driving almost daily to Halifax and will be for the duration of this marathon.

Megan is one of the kindest people I have ever met. She will make an offer of help to anyone in need (or offer up Lu or Ashley’s services if necessary) and is always the first person to be there for you when you need a friend. And you don’t have to be her friend to benefit, she has also helped so many people she didn’t know. Recent examples of her kindness are while at work she found and stayed with a elderly person who had a health emergency and kept them calm until help arrived or when Megan and Mama Lu drove from Brookfield to Parrsboro late at night to help an elderly person who was confused get back to where they were staying. Now it’s our turn to help.

So many people have been reaching out asking how they can help. Right now any donation amount big or small is so appreciated and will be going towards the financial burdens that a life changing accident like this brings to the entire family.

Anything is possible when you have the right people there to support you! Let’s all support Megan and the MacDonald Family!
