This is how Periwinkle and her sister, Tinker Bell came to me back in May 2021. They both had a serious Upper Respiratory Infection(URI). Their mother who was also sick stopped being able to care for her four kittens. Unfortunately two of the kittens died before I was able to step in. They were thin, dehydrated and they were having trouble breathing. Because they couldn't breathe properly they were unable to eat. I had to tube feed them both for about a week before they were able to nurse on a bottle. With medication and round the clock care they both fought off the infection and became happy healthy kittens. Only poor Periwinkle's eye never totally recovered properly.

Periwinkle was diagnosed with Symblepharon. "Symblepharon is a term that describes adhesions between conjunctiva and adjacent conjunctiva or cornea, and is expected after marked or chronic ulceration and exposure of sub epithelial connective tissue." Which basically means the fluffy pink eye socket tissue was so damaged from her URI that the skin fused together and created a skin shield over the eye. After a visit to the wonderful specialists at UC Davis, California it has been discovered that behind that shield there is a functioning eye!

Periwinkle needs surgery to remove that shield and have use of her eye. Thus far, all of Tinker Bell and Periwinkle's medical needs have been sponsored by the Delta Cat Network, a local Non-Profit organization based here in Rio Vista, California. The Delta Cat Network is a small organization. The surgery is going to be very expensive. It's too tall of an order for the Delta Cat Network. This is where you come in. Your donations will help me raise the funds Periwinkle will need to get the surgery. Once Periwinkle has healed from her surgery she will be up for adoption and ready to live her best life.
