Those who know Jay Cruickshank, are aware he suffered a serious fall in January last year which resulted in him being placed in an induced coma in the intensive care unit at Royal Perth Hospital. This was followed by a stay in the State Trauma unit and then rehab after that.
Jay's recovery was a long one, but one that he worked hard at, defying the predictions of many of his doctors.
There were a number of surgeries and many therapies but Jay finally made it back to WARC rallying this year. Back in his beloved Commodore as the 0 car, ensuring roads were safe for competitors.
Several weeks ago, Jay was out in the forest volunteering at the Karri Rally. It was a very wet and muddy weekend, but he loved every minute of it and was in his element amongst all the rallying community.
The following day whilst cleaning off the rally car, Jay was involved in an accident resulting in a serious head injury. He was taken to hospital by ambulance and was admitted to the intensive care unit. He has now been transferred to a ward but his head injury has caused a number of other complications, some of which will have life changing effects for Jay. Today they have discovered Jay has contracted Golden staph infection. He is expected to remain in hospital for some months. to come.
In true Jay style, he is fighting hard to come through this latest battle, which looks to be a long one. He is going to need ongoing support and assistance.
Jay's family have asked for help. Help to cover Jay's bills whilst he is in hospital and for his needs when he is eventually allowed to go home. If you are able to donate, even just a little, every little bit will help Jay.
He has given so much to so many through his days in the Police force and also volunteering in motorsport events, now he needs our help.
100% of the funds raised will be given to Meryl Cruickshank (Jay’s mum) to use on his behalf.
