Garrett Schneider is a single father, brother, and son who is loved by many for his kindness and generosity. On Saturday, June 12th, 2021 Garrett was with his five-year-old son, participating in a dirt bike race - something he loves and does regularly. He crashed, breaking his back, and had to be life flighted to the nearest trauma hospital. Garrett shattered multiple vertebrae and underwent a lengthy emergency surgery; he suffered a spinal cord injury and is paralyzed from the waist down. Garrett’s road to recovery is going to be long and difficult, with extensive physical therapy to regain mobility of his body - it is unknown what the extent of his recovery will be with a spinal cord injury.
Garrett has overcome many obstacles including drug addiction in order to create a better life for his son. He is an incredible, selfless person and will do anything he can to help anyone in need. Garrett has worked very hard to build a great, stable, and loving life for him and his son.
As you can imagine, the rehabilitation from a spinal cord injury and the accessibility needs to become independent is very expensive. Garrett can no longer work in construction while he is recovering from his injury. We know Garrett will overcome this injury but he will need a lot of financial assistance in order to take care of his son and give himself a chance to succeed in his new normal.
Garrett and his family would greatly appreciate any donation you could offer to help cover the costs of this tragic and unexpected injury. These donations will be going towards medical bills, accessibility needs, housing to include making sure the apartment/house is safe and ADA compliant, and everyday needs for him and his son.
