Le Tour Du Jardin 2020

Welcome to Le Tour Du Jardin!

We - Sophie and Amie - will be cycling 5 marathons, in 5 days (29th June - 3rd July) to raise funds for two organisations doing incredible work with young people...from our garden and shed.

Any funds raised will be split between Just Like US and Goals4Girls

The charity, Just Like Us, was founded for a simple reason: growing up LGBTQ+ is still unacceptably tough. The charity supports the LGBTQ+ community in the following ways:

- Schools: Helping to tackle homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying

- Pupils: Supporting children in schools to grow up happy in themselves, and understanding the importance of LGBTQ+ equality

- Young People: Empowering LGBTQ+ volunteers (18-25) at Just Like Us, with the skills they need to be role models in schools and future leaders in the workplace.

Being two gay women, and with it being Pride month, it was important to us to try and help members of our LGBT+ family with this fundraiser.

Goals4Girls is an award winning educational and football development programme working with girls and young women (11-16) in areas of high deprivation.

A Black owned, female-led non-profit working with phenomenal young people to break down barriers in education, football and the workplace are raising funds to extend their mentoring programme this summer and beyond.

Deeply affected by COVID19 and the murder of George Floyd - 80+% of their participants are Black, 57% of their workforce are Black and Asian - Goals4Girls, for the first time, are running their mentoring programme during July and August to support some of London's most vulnerable young people. Funds will also go towards running their mentoring programme in schools from September, as well as resourcing their newly established unit on Identity; a unit created after one of their participants was almost externally excluded for wearing their hair naturally. Apparently, their hair broke 'uniform conduct codes'.

Just listen to one of their participant's powerful words in their poem 'Prisoner'.

Please help us support two incredible organisations. The more money we raise, the more young people we can help...and the faster our legs will cycle!

Big love,
