Chicago Poetry Slam Goes to NPS

As the sole Chicago poetry team headed to the 2015 National Poetry Slam, Lethal Poetry is honored to represent this city. This team of five poets and two slam coaches are about to make Chicago proud! Find out more about us here: www.lethalpoetryslam.com .

Why are we raising money?
Competing on the national level is expensive! While our funding goal does not meet our total costs, an extra $2,000 would help subsidize our trip considerably. Any amount over our goal will go toward covering even more of our total costs which add up to more than $5,000!
Your donation will help cover the cost of:
– flights ($400 EACH)
– lodging ($600)
– food ($30 per day per person)
– registration costs ($500)
– in-city transportation ($40 EACH)
The remainder of expenses will be covered by sponsorships, live shows/features, and special events.
Why We Need You:
Although we all have day jobs, we work in nonprofits and social services. We also treat poetry like a second job, which means we have little time for extra fundraising. Because there are limited grants for the relatively new art form known as slam poetry, we're taking to the (virtual) streets to support our expenses.
About Us:
Lethal Poetry Slam is a diverse crew of poets and the only team representing Chicago at this year's National Poetry Slam. We are two teachers; two college students; three parents; one pastor; one personal trainer; one photographer; four Southsiders; one Northsider; one suburbanite; and all artists.
We are a team of five poets: Bryant Cross, Wesley Frazier-Keys, Hillary Kobernick, Andy Karol, and Raych Jackson. Our beautiful coaches are Rik Vazquez and Billy Tuggle, who bring more than a decade of slam experience to the team!
