Hi my name is Monty Drew. I was just born Aug. 4, 2020! A few months ago my Daddy and Mommy found out that I was going to be born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome.
This was frightening to them but many of their friends and family are praying that I'll be ok and tough enough to handle the surgeries I need to fix my little heart. I will need 3 surgeries. The 1st one is coming up on Monday Aug. 10 when I will be one week old.
Right now I am doing ok. I have a feeding tube but am breathing well on my own. My mommy and daddy get to come see me but cannot hold me right now. I can't wait to get my heart all fixed up so I can go see my new home and meet my sisters!
Our friends, Marc and Sarah Smith from Detroit, TX are expecting to be near their baby at the Children's Hospital in Dallas for a month. After this 1st surgery Monty will probably need a 2nd surgery at 6 months of age and a 3rd one at 3 years.
It has been a challenge to find decent lodging since the hospital is in a questionable part of town and because of Covid regulations. Marc is off work of course, and then there are travel and food expenses. Also Baby Monty may need a few extras....
