Let's Show Dwayne that Bike Lives Matter!
Donation protected
On the afternoon of February 24, 2020 our brother Dwayne Walker’s life changed forever! He was struck by an uninsured, drunk driver while riding his motorcycle down Highway 195 en route to Killeen, Texas. The driver failed to yield the right of way causing Dwayne to be propelled from his bike, landing over 120 feet from the point of impact. He sustained multiple injuries to the right side of his body including several torn ligaments and a crushed pelvic bone. He was air-vacked to a trauma center in Temple, Texas where we watched as he lie in pain for almost 24 hours awaiting surgery to correct the multiple injuries he sustained.

We weren’t sure how critical his injuries were at the time and we too sat in agony, praying that the lord would not take our brother. We made daily drives to visit our brother at the hospital nearly an hour away from our homes to help him keep his spirits up. Dwayne put on a brave front, but we could see this accident shook him to his core. We haven’t seen him shed a tear since our mother passed away nearly 20 years ago. But when you stare death in the face as he had, you can’t help but to shed tears of joy.
After a week in Temple, he was transported to a rehabilitation facility in Georgetown, Texas, much closer to home, but his recovery is far from over. Dwayne has to learn to walk again in order to gain his independence. Blood clots in his legs have caused his second corrective surgery for his hand to be postponed for another week. So far he’s had surgery to repair his crushed pelvic bone and correction of dislocated bone in his wrist. His third surgery is scheduled for Friday, March 13, 2020 to repair the ligaments in his hand.
With mounting hospital bills, medication costs, reduced income and a recovery time of 8-12 weeks, we are hoping to raise funds to help our brother in his time of need. We estimate his financial need to be approximately $10,000. Please show your support in helping our brother get back to how we know and love
