Let's Move Karen and Jim Back to Chicago Area
Donation protected
In January, 2020, Jim Bourne, my brother-in-law and friend for nearly 35 years was recently diagnosed with an inoperable terminal brain tumor (think John McCain's brain cancer). My sister, Karen, and Jim moved to Spring, Texas roughly 12 years ago for Jim's job and to ultimately retire in the warm weather. Family is in the Chicagoland area. Karen is suffering from Rheumatoid Arthritis and takes medication daily to manage the RA pain. Karen recently lost her job in December, 2019, shortly before Jim became sick. Jim is unable to work due to his daily medical treatments which include chemotherapy in the form of pills administered by Karen every evening and radiation therapy every day except on weekends. They are in desperate need of the support they would get from family and friends in this very stressful time. They have received doctor referrals in the Central DuPage Hospital system from their current doctors in Texas. All that is left for them to do is sell their current home, pay off the mortgage and pending medical bills, and move back" home" so they may be surrounded by their family and friends during this difficult and stressful time. Moving their belongings back is an expensive undertaking so we are looking to help them with their moving expenses and a security deposit for an apartment close to the hospital and their doctors. Since both are currently unemployed and Jim's social security is barely enough to make mortgage payments and provide for food, this fundraising would truly help them get back "home" and get back on their feet and enjoy whatever time they have left.
